Nearby
Casa Piana is located near the town of Marina di Caronia in northern Sicily. The area mainly draws those looking for quiet, an empty beach, nature and an authentic feel for Sicily.
From the nearest town to full-day excursions, all in one place. The closer surroundings can be reached on foot or in a few minutes by car, while the three farther places call for a car and take half a day to a full day. Each card leads to its own page with photos, a guide and links you can check.
Sicily, for longer
This is not an excursion from the villa. It's a holiday in its own right, and we want to say so plainly before anyone books a week by the sea.
The Magna Via Francigena, known in Slovak as the Via delle Rose (Cesta ruže), is a medieval pilgrim route crossing the whole of Sicily, from Agrigento on the southern coast to Palermo on the northern one. It runs roughly 180 kilometres and is usually walked in eight to nine stages of twenty to twenty-five kilometres a day. It leads through the interior, via Sutera, Prizzi and Corleone, over hills between vineyards and olive groves, through villages the tour buses never reach.
We mention it even though it isn't on the list of excursions, because it's one of the most beautiful things you can do in Sicily, and there's a detailed Slovak guide to it. If you're ever planning a walking holiday, this is a route worth knowing. Feel free to combine it with a stay at the villa, one following the other, rather than trying to squeeze it into a single week.
Distances are calculated by road from the villa, not as the crow flies. Opening hours and prices were checked on 6 September 2026 against each place's official website. In Italy these change with the season and public holidays, so it's worth clicking the link in the guide the day before you go, just to check. If you're not sure, write to us and we'll check for you.
